Berries, Bouquets, & A Beach Breeze: Laguna Farmers Market

It’s Saturday morning. You roll out of bed, open your fridge, and if you’re anything like me, you are staring at two eggs and maybe… half a lemon? You could go to the grocery store and grab the same old GROSS spinach wrapped in plastic, or—you could romanticize your life just a little.

You throw on your most feminine dress, and head to the one place that actually makes errands feel like self-care: the Laguna Beach Farmers Market. You just can’t put a price on how the coast heals you… right? You’re not just buying produce, you’re buying the experience of the beach air and fresh flowers. Of course first you need some coffee DUH. So you stop by Laguna Coffee Co. to live like the locals, except the locals have money… and you don’t. You purchase your $7 coffee you head over to your first produce stop of the morning. Now you’re walking around feeling like a slow-living traditional girly. You’ve got a coffee in one hand, your tote bag slung over your shoulder, and you're mentally preparing to drop $9 on a bunch of carrots because they're heirloom and who can put a price on that, right? The farmer's name is Greg, and Greg only accepts Venmo, naturally. You walk by a stand with $12 honey and pretend like you're not about to buy it… even though you 100% are. Then someone hands you a sample of citrus and suddenly your whole world changes. Grocery shopping? This isn’t grocery shopping. This is spiritual. This is everything Whole Foods wishes it could be. Now you’re $30 in and maybe have 3 oranges for the week and some carrots, but hey you enjoyed the day and who can put a price on THAT? It’s not like we’re entering a recession or anything.

All jokes aside I do love exploring new farmers markets every weekend & the freshness of the produce speaks for itself.

Here’s my little Laguna Farmers Market guide if you find yourself in the area:

🧺 Your first stop always has to be…blessed booch she has the BEST Kombucha made fresh each week. Bonus she gives it in a glass bottle (yay, no plastic).

🍓I never leave without grabbing... farm fresh berries & citrus fruits. It’s even better if I can select a beautiful bouquet too!

🐚 The vibes give off... salty ocean air, the scent of fresh citrus and - people moving slowly and mindfully enjoying the sun in their face and a fresh morning.

🌞 The best part of the morning is …. moving slow, and the free citrus samples.

🌿 And yes, maybe I did spend $15 on some berries, but…(no regrets).

So why do I keep going back?

In all honesty, what started as a cute weekend activity to add to my to-do list, has now become one of my favorite ways to reconnect with my mind and body each weekend. The farmers market isn’t just about the fresh fruit (although, let’s be real…the fruit does taste better). It’s about slowing down in our fast paced world and moving gently.  The idea of filling your tote with nourishing ingredients, and soaking in the stillness before entering your hectic week is such a great way to romanticize even the most mundane everyday tasks in our life, like shopping for the food we put in our body. It’s truly a reminder that wellness isn’t something you chase. It’s something you come home to.

From my heart,

Hanna
